A Thought

A Thought:

There are so many homeless people on the street; women and children and young boys alike. For each homeless person, there is a church on every corner. What would happen if each church took their van, a van and did a street sweep; taking each homeless person to a hotel (not motel), a hotel that they have paid for for a week or so and brought members from their churches (whose gifts or ministries) were beauty (manicure and pedicures), health (physicians dieticians, psychologist and counselors) who would donate their time, sharing their gifts freely to cleaning the people up, patching them up and helping them with their mental capacities.

Afterwards the church would take them out to dinner helping them to realize their no different than anyone else. Allowing them to once again feel like normal, like a human being. It would be nice to sit and engage in a casual conversation, one that is not of a condescending nature and that does not have a pre-requisite of being preached to, but rather sitting and listening to what they have to say. I mean really listening to their hearts. Allowing them to talk freely about whom they are and what happened to them. Sometimes we just need people to listen. How many times have we made a phone call to a best friend and all we needed or wanted them to do was listen. We didn’t want an opinion, a suggestion or a comment; we just needed someone to hear us. I imagine it’s no different for those who have found themselves on the street. They too just need an ear to hear them or a shoulder to rest their head on. In fact, they may need it more than some of us do.  Regardless of the choices they made that caused them to fall on hard times, they’re still God’s children and he loves them none the less.

Imagine how they would feel after a true demonstration of God’s love has been shown and we have lifted God up as he said in his word, by doing what he, said (feeding clothing, providing shelter and caring for the widow), then he would draw all men to him. Just maybe they would want to join us for Sunday service because what they have seen demonstrated is pure love, no strings attached, no hidden agendas, no strategy to convert, or increase membership, just the purity of love that's all. I wonder what would happen? Just a thought...

What are your thoughts?
